Public Hearings
Are you an interested party wanting to address the Board during

Public Hearings are held by the Board of Supervisors on the fourth
Tuesday of each month and are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.,
except when there is a Monday holiday, then the meetings are scheduled
to begin at 1:00 p.m. Hearings are for the purpose of considering
fee increases, property transactions, zone changes and other zoning
matters, etc.
Addressing the Board
Persons wishing to address the Board must fill out and submit
a "Request to Speak" form prior to the start of the meeting. These
forms are obtained from and submitted to the person at the information
rail located inside the Board's Hearing Room. It is important
to note that the Board may limit the public input on any item,
based on the number of people requesting to speak and the amount
of business scheduled before the Board.
Filing of Correspondence
Persons not able to address the Board in
person, may register their support or opposition to a hearing
item scheduled before the Board in writing. In order for the correspondence
to become part of the record all correspondence must be filed
in the Executive Office prior to the scheduled hearing date.
Filing of an appeal (Zoning Matters)
Zoning matters that are appealed to the Board for final decision
are cases that were heard by the Regional Planning Commission
and/or Hearing Officer relating to land use and subdivision matters
within the unincorporated Los Angeles County area.
The Board considers all written and oral testimony filed by
appellants or any other interested parities prior to making a
final decision on the recommendations of the Regional Planning
Commission or Hearing Officer relating to land use permits and
subdivisions.
Appeals submitted to the Board of Supervisors must be filed
within the following time requirements:

5 day requirement - This requirement is for Change
of Zone cases that are denied. An appeal must be filed in
the Executive Office 5 calendar days after the Executive Officer
has received the final recommendations of the Regional Planning
Commission. No appeal fee is required, nor is an appeal form
necessary, a letter will suffice.

8 and/or 15 day requirement - This requirement is
for Land Use cases. An appeal must be filed in the Executive
Office after the applicant has received by certified mail
the final recommendations of the Regional Planning Commission.
For cases heard by a Hearing Officer and the Regional Planning
Commission the appeal filing period is 8 calendar days after
receipt of their certified letter.
For cases heard by the Regional Planning Commission only
the appeal filing period is 15 calendar days after receipt
of their certified letter. To file an appeal on a Land Use
case an appeal form must be filed with the required appeal
fee.

10 day requirement - This requirement is for Subdivision
cases. An appeal must be filed in the Executive Office 10
calendar days after the Regional Planning Commission's decision.
To file an appeal on a Subdivision case an appeal form must
be filed with the required appeal fee. To inquire about the
