IRRIGATION DISTRICTS

AUTHORITY

Section 21100 et seq. of the Water Code.

APPOINTMENT

Elected. The Board of Supervisors may appoint at the request of the District, in lieu of an election to a term ending with the next succeeding election if only one person or no one is nominated for each office. Officers, irrespective of the method of their selection take office as soon as they qualify, except that officers elected at a general district election take office at noon on the last Friday in December next following the general district election. See Sec. 1780 of the Government Code and Sec. 21265 et seq of the Water Code for further details on the election and/or appointment process.

TERM OF OFFICE

Four years or until a successor qualifies and takes office.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a voter and freeholder of the District, and a resident of the Division he represents.

DUTIES

A District may do any act necessary to furnish sufficient water in the District for beneficial use. See Section 22075 of the Water Code.
