This office provides support staff to the Civil Service Commission, a Charter-mandated body charged with acting as the appellate body for major disciplinary actions, reductions, discharges, and discrimination complaints filed by County employees within the Civil Service System. The Commission also deals with examination appeals regarding exam questions only, and hears appeals on Appraisals of Promotability scores.
The Commission staff merged with that of the Employee Relations Commission, resulting in administrative efficiencies for both Commissions. Staff of the Civil Service Commission provide administrative support and consultation services to the Commission, County departments, and employee groups. Consistent with the philosophy of the Executive Office to continually strive for quality service, this office recently commenced an internal review procedure to look at the most efficient ways to deliver services.
